Mac-O-Chee
is two miles east of West Liberty at the intersection of State
Routes 287, 245 and County Road 1. It was the original home of
Col. Donn Piatt and Ella Kirby Piatt, finished in 1879. The
frescoed designs were painted by Swiss born artist, Oliver Frey
who came to the U.S. from France to paint seventeen rooms in the
house in 1880 and 1881.
Mac-A-Cheek is one mile east
of West Liberty on Township
Road 47, just off of State
Route 245.
Finished in 1871, it was the home
of General Abram
Sanders Piatt
and Eleanor Watts Piatt.
Oliver Frey painted the drawing
room, hallways, chapel and three
bedrooms after he finished the
work on Mac-O-Chee.
